Say goodbye to chapped lips with this very easy exfoliating scrub which requires only 2 main ingredients. Changes in the weather, like the cold and the sun won’t be your enemies anymore, your lips will always be hydrated and soft.
Chapped and cracked lips can be the consequence of a lack of hydration of the skin. Lips don’t have oil glands like the rest of the skin. Dehydration is an important factor that affects our lips especially when the weather is extreme, like for example in winter or summer.
For treating chapped lips it is always necessary to take care of our diet, eating a lot of vegetables and fruits, drinking enough water and to protect our skin from the sun to have all the main vitamins for a healthy skin. Furthermore, creamy lipsticks balms can help to hydrate the zone. However, for a quick treatment, a homemade scrub can be ideal, natural and cheap. You can also make a bigger quantity to treat dry areas like elbows, knees or hands.
The ingredients for this exfoliating scrub for chapped lips are the following:
- 3 coffee spoons of coconut oil
- 2 cubes of Cane sugar
To give it a personal touch: cinnamon, jam, coconut flakes, food coloring agent, etc.

In here the video 🙂
How to apply it?
Take little portions of the scrub with two fingers and make a gentle massage until it is absorbed. You can do this one or two times per day.
The power of coconut oil:
Coconut oil is used to hydrate skin and hair. Some studies indicate that coconut oil has an antibacterial and anti-age power. It was noticed that the coconut oil has the capacity to repair the skin because of the triglycerides that it contains, attract the molecules of proteins, assuring a regeneration of the layer of collagen. This ingredient is a multi-purpose product, as an example, I used this oil in my mask of activated charcoal to hydrate my skin while cleaning it.
Brown sugar as an exfoliating agent:
The thick texture of the cane sugar allows to remove the dead skin and to make easier the penetration of the oil.
Cinnamon can help the exfoliation and also give a more voluminous aspect if you want to intensify the volume of your lips for some minutes. Fruits in jams have vitamins which are always positive for the skin.
To conclude, this exfoliating scrub can be used to remove dead skin and hydrate your lips with the power of the coconut oil. This scrubs is not only for chapped lips, you can take this recipe and apply it to other parts of your body when they are too dry.
